SHINee’s Onew is becoming quite a musical actor now. The pop idol returns to the stage, along with fellow SM artists TRAX’s Typhoon and The Grace’s DANA and Sunday, will make their musical debut in a new production of the Korean version of the 2010 award-winning hit Broadway musical – Rock of Ages.
The jukebox/rock musical is based on the book by Chris D’Areinzo. The storyline revolves around various people who love classic 80’s rock music. It focuses on two main characters, Drew and Sherrie, with their dreams of making it big in the music business.
According to a representative from SM Entertainment, Onew, Typhoon and singer Ahn JaeWook will take turns in playing the role of the aspiring rocker, Drew Bowie, while DANA, Sunday and Moon HyeWon will play the role of Sherrie, the wanna-be actress.
Meanwhile, three of the SM artists are no longer rookies on the musical stage. Onew and Typhoon already wowed theater fans as the duo showed their talents through their first musical role in Hey Bro! last Spring, while DANA was also cast in the female lead role of the musical adaptation of the hit TV series Jewel in the Palace.
Are the fans ready to be wowed again? Rock of Ages is scheduled to premiere in Korea this September.
