SKorean fans watch WCup match at outdoor rallies

SEOUL, South Korea —More than 1 million people joined outdoor rallies to cheer for South Korea in the World Cup match against Argentina, but have gone home disappointed after the team lost 4-1.

Police estimated about 1.56 million fans in South Korea came out Thursday to cheer in public squares, stadiums and other locations.

Preliminary estimates say about 500,000 supporters gathered at sites in Seoul, including along the city’s Han River.

Nearly 1 million people came out Saturday night in the rain and were ecstatic when South Korea beat Greece 2-0.
